Theatre of Liberation in Motueka!

Kia ora Whanau
Come along to play and share!

What is Theatre of Liberation (ToL)?
Auguusto Boal, a Brazilian theater practitioner, created Theater of the Oppressed to support people to explore at how power operates in their lives, and how to work towards solidarity.  Based on his work, we practice ToL, using theatre games and exercises to explore how we can more fully engage in our lives, co-creating possible tomorrows.

Story Bridge - a story telling workshop in Motueka

After an amazingly successful workshop and performance last year in Golden Bay, we're bringing Story Bridge to Motueka.

Story Bridge is a simple yet powerful process.

Story Bridge uses true personal stories and creative expression to engage deep dialogue, enable authentic relationship building, and facilitate individual and community transformation.

Story Bridge provides an amazing framework whereby participants share personal, meaningful stories, and then weave those stories to a larger story that is acted out and performed for the larger community... all in one day!

A simple structure but powerful in it's personal, community-oriented, unpolished realness. No experience necessary, just a willingness to share stories and time with others. Suitable for all ages 7-107.
The performance is free to the public.

A huge thank you to Story Bride director/founder Richard Geer for sharing of his process and discoveries with such vulnerability and generosity and to Creative Communities Tasman for their support of this event as well as all of the other incredible projects in the Tasman region.

Come share the story you have inside of you...

Come hear the stories of those in your community...

The Feijoa Jam!!

Hello Beautyfull Movers and Shakers...
I'm excited to tell you that the FEIJOA JAM is ON!!
"What's this?!" you say. Never heard of a Feijoa Jam?
It's an ancient tradition (that we are co-creating) to celebrate the abundance of harvest season, the generosity of the Feijoa Tree, and the glory of being in a body... all at once!
Contact Improv Jam meets Acro Playtime meets Community Gathering. Have another body-centered practice you want to throw in the pot? Bring it!

Empowered Activism with Earthcare Education Aotearoa

Wow!
Blown away.
Earthcare Education Aotearoa put together an incredible line-up of facilitators into a week long event to inspire people to step into their power to create positive change in the world.
They did that and more.

In their own words,
"This week-long embodied experience seeks to reframe activism as an essential, positive contributor to the transformation of social and ecological systems. The course will offer a range of tools and tactics for effective change-making –  facilitated through dynamic group exercises, deep connection, adventure and play. This immersive learning experience will equip change makers with the skills to navigate the complexity of the modern world."

Andy and I were invited to teach a 3 hour workshop of Theater of Liberation focusing on Power, Privilege, and Allieship, and then I added, in the morning leading up to it, a short intro to NVC and another overview on Idealism vs. Marxism aka "How to view the world through a capitalist and a Marxist lens."  Phew.  Sounds full on and possibly tedious but it was anything but!

Everyone was joyously engaged, the community was strong and supported, people were vulnerable and willing to admit their blindspots and past hurts, and courageously step forward into the direction where they want to sail their ship!!  The true joyous journey of activism!!

No pics to share as it was an intimate and personal affair, but huge gratitude to Robina McCurdy, Dave Hursthouse, Emma Morris, all of the other fabulous facilitators, and the amazing crew of students!! Thanks for including us along on the ride!!

Steiner Education

Life changes so quick sometimes, eh?

W've got all of out ducks in a row and a bump rumbles up and we find we're headed in an unexpected direction.

Well this current bump opened up a whole new avenue.  The day Jen found out her job will be ending, she got offered work at the Motueka Steiner School leading the Outdoor classroom!
That means Andy and Jen are both working as Steiner teachers!  Andy's baking bread and singing songs with the littles and Jen's hanging with the oldest group.  Adventures in store for us all.  And how perfect that Steiner education emphasizes holistic hands-on learning that engages the whole child, which is really at the heart of everything we do.

We're so excited to be engaged with such an incredible community!!
