Theater of Liberation

What is Theatre of Liberation (ToL)?
Augusto Boal, a Brazilian theater practitioner, created Theater of the Oppressed to support people to explore how power operates in their lives, and how to work towards solidarity. Based on his work, we practice ToL, using games and exercises to explore how we can more fully engage in our lives, co-creating possible tomorrows.
Come join us!

a gREAT rAW

Andy has been working relentlessly to bring this show to life!!!
Presenting....

a gREAT rAW!

A show about war & all its greatness.
In a gREAT rAW, voices of the ancestors come together to question the greatness of World War 1 and uncover the raw intergenerational trauma that was gruesomely brought about.
Set as a debate to uncover some of the hiStories of WW1, a gREAT rAW entails one actor playing seven roles, using clown, bouffon, music & multiple masks.

SPECIAL BONUS PERFORMANCES:
"A Man Says Goodbye To His Mother" written by Peter Schuman of Bread and Puppet Theater
and
Renowned poet & performer Mark Raffills of Golden Bay will perform this evening by popular request
MARK TWAIN's War Prayer.
Inspired by the book "We will not cease" by NZ's own ARCHIBALD BAXTER, conscientious objector & father of poet James K. Baxter.

Acroyoga for Beginners - 4 week series

We're starting up classes in Nelson!!

A beautiful opportunity to be in your body, play with balance and pressure, and make some fun friends!!

AcroYoga combines acrobatic concepts with a yogic consciousness. It is a movement fusion of yoga, dance, therapeutics, and acrobatics.

AcroYoga helps people from all cultures connect with each other through the common language of play. Through movement, play, creativity, and communication, we have the potential to enter into meaningful connection as we take risks, build trust, and have fun with one another.
The classes are designed in the AcroYogaMontreal tradition which focuses on creativity and exploration within the form. Check out www.Acroyoga.com for inspirational photos and videos!
These classes will be accessible and engaging to absolute beginners as well as to those with a more advanced Acroyoga practice. All body types, shapes, and fitness levels welcome <3
This is a 4-week session, meeting every Tuesday in May.
Drop-ins welcome.

Acroyoga at the New Zealand Juggling and Circus Festival 2021

What a fabulously wonderful weekend playing with jugglers, acrobats, aerialists, balance masters, street and stage performers, and all round playful people at the New Zealand Juggling and Circus Festival this weekend!

It was an amazing opportunity for highly skilled professionals in one area of expertise to try their hand at another and I had the privilege of teaching Acroyoga to two dozen eager creatives.  I didn't get a single picture all weekend, but I am excited to say that it will be happening all over again next year, here in Nelson!

I hope to play with you all there!
